Tasty Mango Murabba is a sweet, tangy aromatic preserve made with fleshy, sour raw mangoes. It is recognised as a popular jam recipe that is greatly loved for the king ingredient - 'Mango'. The fine fusion of nice ingredients like paan ka chunna, cardamom, cinnamon, raisins, kashmiri chillies and ginger powder make it a lip-smacking recipe to relish. 

Tasty Mango Murabba goes well with chapathis or any type of Indian bread. This can also be served as a side condiment with any meal.

  • 1 kg. raw mangoes
  • 2 kg. sugar
  • ½ tsp. paan ka chuna (limestone)
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 25 gms. big cardamoms
  • 25 gms.cinnamon stick
  • 50 gms. raisins
  • 25 gms. big red Kashmiri chillies, broken into bits
  • 1 tbsp. dry ginger powder

How to Make Tasty Mango Murabba

  • Peel and cut mangoes into thick long slices.
  • Dissolve paan ka chuna and some salt in water and put in the mango slice.Set aside whole night.
  • Next morning, drain out the water nicely and wash the slices into 4 to 5 clear changes of water.
  • Then boil the mangoes in water for 5 minutes and drain out the water completely.
  • Put 3 cups water in sugar and prepare a syrup of one thread consistency, then put in salt and mango slices and cook over a slow fire till the syrup turns thick.
  • Mix in the rest of the above ingredients and remove from fire. Cool and bottle it,use when required.
