  • 1 cup - Rice
  • 1 cup - Jaggery
  • 5-6 - Cardamom
  • Cashew nuts - A few
  • 3-4 tsps - Ghee
  • 3 cups - Water

How to Make Thirvathirai kali

  • First dry roast the rice ona simmer flame until it turns light red colour.
  • Once it cools, powder it. Let it be slightly coarse.
  • In a heavy bottom kadai, boil the water and add jaggery powder.
  • Once everything starts boiling, filter it to remove dirt in jaggery.
  • Now add the rice powder and transfer the mixture into a vessel. Pressure cook till 3 whistles.
  • Once it cools, open the cooker and season it with cashew fried in ghee.
  • Mix well and it is ready to serve.
