Kozhakattai is a steamed sweet dumpling extremely popular in South India and largely relished as a festive snack. This special Kozhakattai is made with Varagu or Kodo millet which is loaded with numerous essential nutrients. 

This kid-friendly tasty dish is prepared using yummy ingredients - kodo millet, powdered jaggery,cardamom and grated coconut. The sweet, yummy mixture is shaped into soft balls and then steamed well to achieve the perfect sugary dumplings.

  • Kodo Millet-1 cup
  • Powdered Jaggery-1/2 cup
  • Cardamom-2 pods
  • Grated Coconut-4 tsp

How to Make Varagu Vella Kozhakattai

  • Boil water and add kodo millet.
  • Once it gets cooked, add powdered jaggery and grated coconut.
  • Mix well and add powdered cardamom. Allow this mixture to cool and make soft balls. Steam them in an idli cooker till done and serve at once.
