Ingredients

  • 2.25 cups - flour
  • 3/4 cup - shortening
  • 1.5 cups - sugar
  • 1 cup - skimmed milk
  • 5 - eggs
  • 1.5 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 3 tsps - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - salt

How to Make White cake

  • Soften shortening by stirring.
  • Gradually add sugar and cream till light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla essence.
  • Sift flour with baking powder and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  • Beat after each addition.
  • Separate egg whites and beat until stiff.
  • Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Bake in paper lined round pans in moderate oven for 375 degrees F for 18-20 minutes.
