Cheese Fondue is a special Swiss recipe which is usually served in a communal pot and eaten by dipping bread into the melted cheese. The smooth mixture is made with the choicest of tasty ingredients - apple juice, lemon juice, yummy cheese, cornflour and kirsch. Season it with white pepper, nutmeg and paprika for a different flavour. Make sure that the cheese blends well with the rest of the ingredients for a rich creamy mixture.  

This Cheese Fondue can be best served with small cubes of French bread. You can use fondue forks or skewers to swirl them and enjoy!

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 300 ml. strong unsweetened apple juice
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 275 gms. Emmenthal cheese
  • 275 gms. Gruyere cheese
  • 1 tbsp. cornflour
  • 3 tbsp. Kirsch (distilled brandy)
  • Pinch of white pepper
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of paprika

How to Make Yummy Cheese Fondue

  • Grate both the cheese. Rub the inside of a fondue pan with the cut clove of garlic.
  • Pour the apple juice into the pan with the lemon juice and heat gently.
  • Gradually add the cheese, stirring in a figure of eight motion until all the cheese is combined.
  • When the mixture begins to bubble, blend the cornflour and kirsch together and add the fondue.
  • Continue to cook gently for a further 2-3 minutes and season, according to taste with the pepper, nutmeg and paprika.
  • To serve, use cubes of French bread.
