Preparation :
Ingredients Bengal Gram Dal - 250 gms.
Coconut - 1/2 No.
Cummin Seed - 1 tsp.
Red Chilli Whole - 4 Nos.
Asafoetida - a pinch
Sugar - 1 tsp., Salt to taste
Vanaspati - 50 gms.
Bay Leaves - 2 Nos.
Soda - a pinch.
- Soak the dal in a soda for about 1 hour.
- Boil dal with bay leaves and salt till cooked. Make sure it is not fully mashed.
- Cut coconut into small dices and fry in vanaspati till golden brown.
- Prepare a tempering by heating vanaspati in a frying pan and adding cummin seeds, red chilli whole and asafoetida.
- Add this to the dal. Add the coconut and sugar and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Serve hot with phulko luch (Serves - 4)
