Dhara : The Origin

The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) was created in 1965 in response to Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's call to transplant the spirit of Anand in many other places. He wanted the Anand model of Dairy Development - sensitive and responsive to the needs and demands of rural producers - replicated in other parts of the country. Today more than 80 lakh dairy farmers own some of the largest and most successful businesses in India. They have helped India emerge as the second largest milk producer in the world.

The success of a milk cooperative mvoement under the aegis of NDDB prompted the government to bring other primary commodities like edible oils, fruits and vegetables under the Board's care. The cooperative umbrella has been extended to the growing of trees and even to salt farming.

In order to establish a direct link between the producers and consumers of oil, thus reducing the role of oil traders and oil exchanges, NDDB decided to enter the consumer pack market for edible oils through its Dhara refined rapeseed and groundnut oil. Within a short span, Dhara has become the market leader in branded edible oil because of its tamperproof packaging and high quality. Today, Dhara's Refined Sunflower Oil, Refined Groundnut Oil, Refined Mustard Oil, Refined Rapeseed Oil, Double Filtered Mustard Oil, Double Filtered Groundnut Oil, Refined Soyabean Oil, Kacchi Ghani Mustard Oil and Vanaspati reach all over the country.

Dhara : Zaike ka Safar

Precisely the reason for this compilation by Dhara; from Amritsari Macchi from the North to Vendakkai Masala from the South. Recipes that will give you a true taste of Indian cooking. And your family a taste for it.

With cuisines so diverse, the ingredients would be different too. With one exception - Dhara. Not surprising, for Dhara has an entire range of oils to cater to every Indian taste. And every Indian dish.

Every single page promises your family a treat. And after many an enjoyable evening, you will realise why Dhara is often called India's favourite range of edible oils.
