Milagu-paruppu Rasam
Ingredients
Tuvar dhal - 1/4 cup
Tamarind - small ball
Sambar powder - 1 tsp or Rasam powder 1 and half tsp
Black Pepper seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Tomato - 2 small
Salt to taste
Ghee - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves - to garnish
Method:
- Pressure cook the tuvar dhal nicely, mash and keep aside.
- Soak the tamarind in warm water and extract the juice.
- Add the sambar powder (rasam powder) salt.
- Cut tomatoes and boil till the pungent smell of the sambar powder
wanes off.
- Grind the pepper and cumin seeds coarsely and add to this
boiled mixture and boil for a minute. Remove from fire.
- Add some water to the mashed dhal and bring to boil in a separate vessel. When it boils add the rasam to the dhal and boil for a minute.
- Heat ghee and add the mustard seeds, allow to splutter and pour
to the rasam.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
