Hi,
My name is Pranali Khanolkar. I am from Mumbai and leave in Chicago right now with my Husband Nilesh. This Recipe is a hot favorite with Maharhastrian People and can be substituted for curry at any time and at the same way goes along with any type of Curries made with Garam Masala too. But the best way to have Solkadi is with Fried Fish and Rice. Enjoy !!

Solachi Kadi (Solkadi)

Ingredients

For a full Can of Coconut Milk use the measures below. But If you are using only half a can use half the quantity of everything.

Coconut Milk Can (You will get it in any Indian Store, don't take the Lowfat One. It's is very Dilute)
Green Chillies
5 Garlic flakes
Salt to Taste
5 Flakes of Kokam (Sola)
Coriander (Kothambir)

Method:

  1. Dissolve Kokam flakes in about 4-5 Tablespoons of water in the vessel you are going to keep the Kadhi for about 10 minutes before you make the kadhi. Do not put too much water because then the kadhi will be very dilluted.
  2. Put all the other contents in the mixer, add very little water. Grind for 2-3 minutes, till the mixture has mixed very well
  3. Pour the mixture from the Mixer in the vessel in which you have Kokam dissolved in Water.
  4. Garnish with coriander. Mix Well
