This recipe comes from Shilpa Gopinath, Michigan, US. I am fond of cooking and regular visitor of Bawarchi site. I would like to share the recipe of my husbands favourite dish 'Pepper chicken'. This is easy to make, quick, and a very delicious dish to be served with roti, nan or rice.

Pepper Chicken

Ingredients

4 no. Chicken thighs,
3 Onions thin sliced
1 tsp Garam Masala Pwd
3/4 tsp or less Pepper Powder
1 big ripen Tomato
Whole Garam Masala (two Cloves and a small piece of Cinnamon)
1 1/2 tsp each of Ginger and Garlic paste
Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Fry onions with 2 tsp oil till they are brown. Grind and make a paste of it and lets call it 'Brown onion paste'.
  2. Now head butter or 2 tsp oil, put whole garam masala and when it begins to splutter, add ginger garlic paste and brown onion paste, fry for sometime and add cleaned and cut chicken pieces, salt to it and fry for 7 mins.
  3. Now add pepper powder, garam masala, tomato chopped and a little water if needed and cook closed at medium flame till the chicken becomes tender.
  4. Open the lid and fry the chicken till the masala leaves sides of the pan. Your delicious pepper chicken is ready to be served.
