Hi,
I am Ritu. Here is a favourite recipe for a hot afternoon. This lassi is a great to beat the heat and good for the stomach too.

Adrak and Ajwain Flavoured Lassi

Ingredients

Adarak (Ginger) A 3"/3" piece
Ajwain (Oregano) 1 tablespoon
Green chillies (optional) 6/7 medium ones
Rock salt (balck salt) to taste
Curd (yoghurt) 3 cups
Water 3 cups

Preperation time : 10 minutes + 2 hours to soak in (will stay in the fridge for a couple of days)

Method:

  1. Peel and wash and finely dice the adarak.
  2. Put the adarak, ajwain and chillies through a spice grinder to make a coarse paste.
  3. Put the curd and water in the blender for a couple of minutes to make a Lassi.
  4. Mix in the adarak, ajwain and chillies paste. Add rock salt to taste.
  5. Leave to saok for about 2 hours and then seive out the flavouring.
  6. Cool in the fridge and dilute some more with water before drinking.

Serve with lunch or on its own on a hot afternoon.
