Onion Potato Raita
Ingredients
3 medium sized Potatoes
1 medium sized Onion
Small bunch of Coriander Leaves
Fresh Curds or Yogurt 2 1/2 cups
1 tsp of Oil
1/2 tsp ful of Mustard seeds
2 Green Chillies
Salt as per taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves, 8 to 10 leaves
Method:
- Cook potatoes and allow it to cool down.
- Chop coriander leaves, green chillies and onion.
- Take oil in a pan and add mustard seeds in it. Allow it to splutter.
- Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and green chillies. Stir well. Keep it
aside. Allow it to cool down.
- Now peel the skin of the baked potatoes. Grate them. (Do not mash them)
- Now add chopped onion.
- Mix well, add oil containing mustard seeds, curry leaves, turmeric powder
and green chillis. Mix them. (while mixing potatoes might get mashed, so, do
not mix very hard, if it gets mashed little bit it is OK)
- Now add curds and salt to it. Mix them.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with Chapatis.
Alternate method:
If you don't like using oil with mustard seeds, turmeric powder, curry
leaves and green chilies, you can add some chutney powder to it. It gives
another taste.
Note:
Depending on as you cook, you can add salt while cooking the potatoes or
later.
