I am Vasantha from Ajman, UAE. I like cooking very much. This is my first recipe to this site. You can eat this curry with rice. Easy to prepare. Try out.

Mathanga Pulingari

Ingredients

1/2 Kg Mathanga (Yellow pumpkin)
1 Cup Tuvar Dhal
3 tsp Chilli powder
Little Turmeric Powder
Small Lemon size Tamrind
3,4 Pearl Onions cut into fine pieces
1 tsp Mustard seeds
Little Fenugreek seeds
Curry Leaves little
3,4 Whole Red Chillies
3 tsp Oil for seasoning

Method

  1. Wash and cook Tuvar Dhal in 2 cup water.
  2. Cut Mathanga and remove skin and make pieces.
  3. Put this Mathanga pieces in the cooked Tuvar Dal and add Chilli and turmeric powder and cook well.
  4. Mix tamarind in 1 cup water and squeze and take out juice.
  5. Pour the tamarind juice in the cooked dhal and mathanga and boil till getting desired consistency not so thick.
  6. In a kadai pour oil and add mustard, fenugreek seeds and let them splutter. then add curry leaves, onions, red Chillies. Let the onion turn brown in colour. Then pour this on the curry and mix well.

Serve hot with rice.
