Hi everybody,
This is Meena Karande with a fatfree version of the traditional Maharashtrian Dalichi Amti. It is very easy to make and gets ready in a jiffy!

Dalichi Amti

Ingredients

1 Cup Toor Daal
1 small Onion (Finely cut)
1 Green Chilli (Finely cut)
2 Kokams or 1/2 tsp Tamarind Pulp
Handful of Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Rai
1/2 tsp Hing
1/2 tsp Haldi
1 tsp Goda Masala or vegetable Masala
few Curry Leaves
1 tsp Jaggery
1 1/2 cup Water

Method

  1. Pressure cook dal with rai, hing, haldi, green chilli, curry leaves and onion.
  2. When the dal is cooked, add it to a saucepan and let it boil adding water.
  3. Add salt, masala, coriander leaves, jaggery and kokam/tamarind. Let it boil.
  4. Serve hot with Rice!

You may add little coconut or butter if you like. But that may no longer be a fatfree dal)
