Hi!
This is Jyoti Pai from Bombay. Here I am sending in an another Manglorean delicacy, which is very popular during marriage season. You can have it as a side dish as well as raita. It has a distinct flavour and I hope you all enjoy this. Another thing is,it does not require any cooking and can be prepared in a jiffy.

Fruit Saasam (Raita)

Ingredients

3 Mangoes (small)
1/2 Pineapple (cubbed)
1 cup fresh Grapes (green variety)
1 cup Coconut gratings
1 roasted Red Chilli
1 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
2 tbsp Oil
Jaggery (marble sized)
Few sprigs of Curry Leaves
Salt to taste

Method

  1. Wash and peel mangoes and cut into cubes.
  2. Add pineapple and grapes and mix it in a vessel.
  3. Grind coconut gratings along with red chilli and little water to a fine paste. Before taking out add 1 tsp mustard, jaggery and salt and grind for a while. Mix this masala with the fruit pieces. If the mixture is too thick you can add some water.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and prepare seasoning with mustard and curry leaves. When it splutters add this to the fruit mixture.
