Green Pepper Kadi

Ingredients

1. Two Green Peppers
2. 5 Green or Red Chillies
3. 1 Tablespoon Bengalgram dhal
4. 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
5. 1 Teaspoon Mustard seeds
6. 2 Tablespoon Coconut powder
7. A piece of Ginger
8. A pinch of Turmeric
9. Salt to taste
10. 2 Table spoon Oil
11. Coriander leaves
12. 1 Cup Yoghurt or 2 cups Buttermilk
13. 1 clove Garlic (optional)

Method:

  1. Cut green peppers into medium size bits.
  2. Soak bengal gram dhal for about 30 minutes.
  3. Blend bengal gram, chillies, coconut, cumin, ginger, garlic to a fine consistency.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, turmeric. Fry green pepper until it gets cooked. Add salt to taste. Don't overcook. Add blend mixture. Let it boil.
  5. Finally add yoghurt or buttermilk. Simmer.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. Serve with either White Rice or Pongal.
