Kalan Curry

Note: All ingredient quantities are ap prox.

Ingredients:

Half cup sour curd
Two pods of garlic, half onion
Two red whole chillies
Half tsp cummin seed, mustard seeds, 1tsp of mustard seeds for spluttering
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp red chilli powder 
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
One cup grated coconut

Preparation:

  1. First make a coconut paste with the above ingredients except for the red whole chillies, turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds and curd.  Now your paste is ready
  2. Put the curd into the mixer and run for a second so that no lump is seen
  3. Put a pan on the gas and pour two tbsp of coconut oil and when the oil gets heated put the mustard seeds, red whole chillies and fenugreek seeds and fry till they are golden brown. 
  4. Now put the coconut paste and sim the gas stove and start pouring the curd into it and also put 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder. 
  5. Let it simmer in the pan for a minute in low heat. 
  6. Now your kalan curry is ready, put one cup of boiled white petha or boiled raw banana, colocassia, yam.
