Christmas Delight

Tips
I'm delighted to bring to my readers this week a few novel ideas of celebrating christmas with a difference. Bring into your home the whiff and heady aromas of tasty goodies being fried or baked and just watch them vanish away with those you feed licking their fingers for more.
  1. Though it is a time for celebration and rejoicing we would do well to stop just a few seconds, ponder for those bonus goodies you are consuming and go all out for some energetic and exercise to compensate the added calories! Maybe we wouls even make a resolution to just carry on exeercising as long as we can.
  2. Many edible decorations are available in the stores today. Though you may buy coloured sugars, iced leaves, mistletoe, etc., they can be made at home too.
-- To make coloured sugars, put 1/2 cup granulated sugar in small glass jar, with a tight lid. Add a few drops of green, yellow, red or desired colour to it. Add 2-3 drops vanilla essemce. Close lid tight and shake the jar vigourously till the sugar is uniformly coated with the colour.
-- To make iced leaves, etc. , prepare 1 cup basic butter icing, (refer week on cakes) and add the desired colour while beating. Pipe out mistle toe shaped leaves, berries, bells etc. on a clean waxpaper and allow to dry and stiffen. Highlight the shades by applying a few thin strokes of edible colour-dipped brush . Lift and store carefully. Use them as decorations on cakes, puddings, etc when required.

  3. You may like to send a batch of these homemade goodies to your friends or relatives. Just go ahead and enjoy spreading the good spirit so also the good taste.
Wishing all my readers a very, very HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR. And hope to continue to interest you with my recipes in future too.
