Ingredients:
1 cup bengalgram dal
1 cup urad dal skinned
1 tsp. cumin seeds
2 stalks curry leaves
6 dry red chillies
1/2 tsp. chilli powder (if required)
1/2 tsp. asafoetida
1/4 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)Method:
- Dry roast gram dal in a heavy pan on low flame, till light golden.
- Remove in a plate, keep aside.
- Repeat similarly for urad dal too.
- Just before removing from pan, add cumin.
- Add also curry leaves, asafoetida, chillies.
- Add to roasted gram dal, cool mixture.
- Grind to a powder, adding chilli powder, salt sugar
- Use similar to andhra pudi.
Making time: 20 minutes
Makes: 2-1/2 cups
Shelflife: 6 months
