- Though this wonderful gift of nature may evoke drab ugghhs, snorts from the kiddieworld, it is without doubt one of the most universally used, with great versatility, a health product, whose importance cannot be emphasized enough.
- Milk is an opaque white liquid produced in the mammary glands of lactating female animals and humans.
- It is the sole nourishment for infants in their first few weeks, whether the baby is of a human mother or an animal.
- Milk of some mammals like the cow, goat, buffalo, etc. are consumed universally, and used as a food by humans.
- Though milk products like cheese, butter, buttermilk, cream, sourcream, yoghurt, paneer, etc. are invariably used in limitless dishes, it is milk that is most required daily by the human body to keeep some of its vitamins, calcium, etc.all balanced and in turn body-fit.
- Milk consumed first thing in the morning, after brushing, in its pasteurised form, is like a tonic for the body. Maximum calcium is absorbed from this milk, and not the rest, after other intake, drunk during the rest of the day.
- So, it is best to start the day with a big glass of milk drunk with zest, and it will take care of the rest.
- There are hundreds of recipes already online using milk or milk products in some form whether it be baked dishes, teas, vegetables, gravies, breads, sweets, summer drinks, milkshakes, icecreasm etc. to name a few.
- However, this week, we concentrate only on milk. As it is necessary to be taken as a daily drink.
- While some people relish it with no additions absolutely at one end, there are, at the other end , those who fuss and dwiddle and squirm, and add this and that to down just one glass of milk!!!
- So have a glassful each day, but vary the taste so you don't get bored of it.
- Still, to all milk haters, I would say: THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A GLASS JUST PLAIN MILK.
- If you like it cold, then have as is, pasteurised. Just pour out of the bag/carton and drink away.
- It you prefer it hot, then fresh milk, just boiled and poured right into the glass full of froth, is heavenly.

Note: If type of milk is not mentioned then any (skimmed or whole) may be used. But if a particular recipe requires specific type, then such milk is mentioned in recipe. The same holds good for cow, buffalo or pasteurised milk.
