Milk Dishes
Chilled Fruit Bowl
Note: Feel free to use whatever fruit is available. One may use all or some or even other than these as per individual choice. Only, remember to add ripe bananas compulsorily, as these thicken the milk without needing to add any cream.

Ingredients:

1 litre whole milk, chilled
1/2 cup sugar
2 bananas
1 apple, peeled
2 ripe mangoes
1/4 cup cleaned green grapes
1/4 cup cleaned black grapes
1/4 pomegranate, cleaned
2 slices ripe papaya
2 slices canned pineapple
10 canned cherries
1 chicoo
1 orange very sweet
1 sweet lime very sweet

Crush together:
2 almonds
2 pistachios
1peeled cardamom
8-10 threads saffron

Method:

  1. Make sure milk is well chilled.
  2. Add sugar and crushed almonds, etc.
  3. Stir till sugar is dissolved.
  4. Chop fruit one by one into milk.
  5. Stir in between, to mix in the fruit.
  6. Bananas, apple, mango, chicoo, papaya, must be peeled and chopped
  7. Grapes may be halved if too big.
  8. Chop pineapple slices, drain any syrup oozed, before adding.
  9. Drain and add cherries. Wash if required.
  10. Orange and sweet lime segments must be peeled, deseeded and halved.
  11. Chill for at least 3-4 hours before serving to blend all the flavours.
  12. Serve chilled in individual bowls.

Note: Make sure that no pith or seeds fall into the milk (of apples, oranges or any other), this may cause the milk to turn bitter after a few hours.

Making time: 30 minutes (excluding chilling time)
Makes: 10 servings
Shelflife: 10-12 hours refrigerated
