Sindhi Dishes

Tips
  • Like most of the regions of India where people clothe and live a life full of colour, festivity and hospitality, the Sindhi tradition is no exception.
  • These folks, whether they are hyderabadis or shikarpuris, their food consists of the richness and aromas of spices and ghee and exotic masalas.
  • They are fond of wearing colourful rich clothing, jewellery, and cosmetics. Partying and socialising is an intrinsic part of their lifestyle. They love to be extroverts and enjoy the good life.
  • They celebrate most of the Indian festivals. Dussehra, Diwali, Holi, Krishna Janmashtami, Mahashivaratri, etc. are celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm.
  • Though their food is high on calories and fats, they are a health conscious lot like most.
  • Though they would love to visit the myriad aerobics and health and fitness classes mushrooming these days, you will find few traditional sindhis who will not relish rich, spicy foods.
  • They are equally fond of sweets their favourite being gulab jamoons (refer sweets).
  • Other dishes like the koki, kadhi, dal pakwan, are hot favourites of not only sindhis, but people from other walks of life too.
