Tiny Tots Treats

Tips
  1. Since there have been many requests for recipes for tiny tots (1 1/2 to 2 1/2 year olds), I have devoted a whole week to the same. Contrary to popular belief, that such small kids must be fed only cereal food, milk, and more cereal food, it is surprising how the balance of different kinds of foods, can nourish a baby with no requirement of supplements.
  2. Kids of this age group do tend to fuss, unknowing of the fact that the dish is good or not and how necessary it is to eat it. Its a fussy age, no doubt. Over the years I have learnt one golden rule, let the child get hungry and ASK food, don't force it down their throat as per your timetable. This is a major cause of high stress, for many fusscrazy mothers.
  3. Doting is good, but not getting obsessed with the child's food habits!! Let him grow, let him learn.
  4. Yes, trying to make his food look and smell good is a big plus point, and if variety is added, the kid will get not need much coaxing.
  5. Most soups (without too many pieces), especially smooth like tomato, spinach, carrot are excellent.
  6. Besides, porridges made from the germ of wheat, or bajra, etc. are also very nourishing.
  7. If the climate permits, fruit juices are also ideal, but without colouring and artificial flavouring.
  8. Some recipes which are listed ahead, are easy to make, not much fuss, and hardly time consuming.
  9. They do attempt to make their tiny appetites grow.
  10. Also, recipes listed under 'food for ailing' are mostly appropriate for kiddies.
  11. If the kids prefer sweeter taste, substitute the saltiness in most recipes with sugar and vice versa.
