Plan a Potluck
A potluck party is the easiest way to divide the responsibility of the spread on New Years Eve. Plan out with your guests and decide on who would bring what. This not only makes your work easy but also offers a variety of dishes on the table!
First, write down the menu and assign one person against each item. Discuss with them and check how comfortable they are with that particular food item. You should do this well in advance so that you would be ready if there are any last minute changes.
Get creative and arrange an assortment of cookies on a tray and surprise your guests. These cookies can be in different shapes and sizes and can be based on a popular theme too!
If you have the time at hand and love baking then give yourself the joy of making them all. A personal touch is always appreciated.
Create Funky Masks
If you a masquerade party kind of person then you would love to include various kinds of masks in the party.
Buy them or make them, but make sure they are funky enough that your guest not only get tempted to wear them, take those awesome selfies but want to take them home.
It’s New Year and the decor is incomplete if there isn’t any glitter around. Incorporate as much glitter possible. Hang glitter balls or stars all around. Make glitter stirrers or coasters.
You could also include glitter as the theme of your party. Men could sport glitter hats, shoes or ties while women can wear glitter nail polish, bags or clutches, or better still, wear those bling dresses a la celebrity style!
If you do not get headaches due to loud sounds, then this would be a blast! Ask your guests to bring in unique noisemakers and get the music started.
It’s New Year and making noise is understandable but keep your neighbors informed that you would be having a crazy party all through the night.
Photo booths with various props will make your party a super duper hit. Make sure you dedicate a corner of your party area to a photo booth. Decorate the area with shiny glittery stuff or disco balls. If need be hire a photographer to capture all the memories.
Invite your guests and provide them with props like hats, scarves, funky mustaches and beards or innovative glasses. Have an assortment of these and let them pick up their favorite and go crazy!
New Year and resolutions go hand in hand. As Cake is to Christmas or lamps is to Diwali, New Year Resolutions are a must on the first day of the year.
Give everyone a chit of paper and make them write their resolutions and drop it in the Resolution bowl. Once everyone has finished, pick random resolutions and read them aloud and let the crowd guess who wrote them.
Plan innovative and fun games and keep the party going.
