The banana plant is the largest herbaceous flowering plant. Scientific name is Musa Acuminata.  A banana is an edible leathery berry. The fruit is variable in size, colour and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. First cultivated in south east Asia.

Commonly used in:
Bananas are fried, steamed, made into jams and chips. Raw plantains are used to make curries. They have numerous health benefits.

It is a natural moisturiser. They are a rich source of vitamin C Banana is rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates and vitamins. Good source of potassium and magnesium and promotes bone health. They are a good source of carotenoids which are antioxidants and have a protective effect against chronic disease condition. Bananas are rich in the soluble fibre pectin. Thereby it assists healthy digestion and eases out constipation.
