Description:
Black cumin is blackish in colour, boat shaped and has a pungent bitter taste and smell. It is used for medicinal purpose and as a herb. Original black cumin is rare and so the substitute Carum Carvi is used in India.

Ayurvedic medicines. It has a protective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and promotes (cell death) of the cancer cells.

It is a good source of dietary fibre and essential fatty acids. The oil is used to treat skin and respiratory disorders. Boosts immunity of the body and is also used as a beauty cosmetic. Gargling with oil and warm water reduces tooth ache.
