Brown sugar

Brown sugar is an ingredient used in Indian cooking Also known as:
Brilliant yellow sugar

Brown sugar is a sucrose sugar product with a distinctive brown colour due to the presence of molasses. These are smaller than granulated white sugar. Brown sugar has a slightly lower caloric value by mass than white sugar due to the presence of water.

Commonly used in: 
Baking and making sauces.

Health Benefits:
Brown sugar contains slightly fewer calories compared to refined white sugar, therefore is more effective in preventing obesity. Brown sugar contains some of the natural minerals.
