Description:
It is the dried seed of the herb Cuminum Cuminum. Sometimes the bulb and foliage are also used for culinary purpose. The seeds are oblong in shape and their colour can range from yellow-brown to black. It is a drought tolerant herb and was originally cultivated in Iran. It is used as a main spice in Indian dishes and used for its medicinal purposes, too.
Commonly used in:
South Asian cuisines for its distinctive flavour and aroma. The seeds are used whole or as a ground paste. It is also a major ingredient in the Ayurvedic system of medicine.
