Description:
Poppy seeds are oil seeds. It is derived from the dried pods of the opium poppy or the poppy plant.  The pods are dried and the seeds extracted. There are black and white varieties of the poppy seeds used around the world

Commonly used in:
Used as a spice, a condiment, a main ingredient and a thickner in various cusines around the world. Some cuisines use it in deserts as well

Health benefit:
It contains iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and magnesium. Also B-complex vitamins such as thiamin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, niacin, and folic acid.
