Description:
This is an oil seed and drought tolerant crop. The largest producer is Burma. The sesame seeds are small and flattened and usually found in many shades. Sesame seeds are used as whole in bakery foods like buns and burgers and as oil for cooking purposes.

Commonly used in:
For cooking purpose and also oil is also used in temples for lighting lamps.

Health Benefits:
Rich in vitamins and minerals. Oleic acid present in sesame lowers LDL and increases HDL and in blood. They are also rich in proteins and amino acids.
