Soak dal, rice and chillies for 3 hours and grind them with enough water.
Add asafoetida, curry leaves and salt to ground paste and mix well. Heat a tava, spread some oil and pour a spoonful of batter.
Sprinkle some oil on top and sides of the dosa and cook.
Turn over and cook again.
