  • Raw rice - 1 cup
  • Toor dal - 1 cup
  • Chana dal - 1/2 cup
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Moong dal- 1 tsp
  • Groundnut (raw) - 1 tsp
  • Red chillies - 10 to 12 or as per taste
  • Small onions- 1/4 kg
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Asafoetida as per taste

How to Make Adai with Red Chillies

  • Soak rice and the dals separately.
  • Grind rice with red chillies, salt and asafoetida.
  • Grind the dals to a coarse paste.
  • Mix it to the ground rice batter.
  • Cut baby onions to medium size bits and mix it with the batter.
  • Also, add cut curry leaves.
  • The consistency of the batter should be similar to dosa batter.
  • Heat a tava and pour the mixture like a dosa with enough oil.
  • Once cooked well on both sides the adai is ready to serve.
