Adrak chutney or Ginger chutney has the goodness of ginger combined with the tartness of lemon and the sweetness of sugar. It makes a nutritious and tangy accompaniment or dip for Indian food like Idli, dosa, Pesarattu or Thepla. Ginger is  a medicinal and culinary spice and has many therapeutic effects for ailments including stomach issues and respiratory conditions.


  • 250 gms - Adrak (Ginger), grated
  • 4 tbsp - Sugar
  • 1 tbsp - Garam Masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - Black salt
  • 1 tsp - Cumin seeds, roasted and crushed
  • 1 tsp - Black Cardamom powder
  • Juice of 5 Lemons
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Adrak Chutney:

    1. Heat a non stick pan, add ginger and saute on medium heat until moisture evaporates.
    2. Add sugar and cook for 2 minutes.
    3. Add powdered spices and cook for another 1 minute.
    4. Remove from heat, add lemon juice and allow to cool.
