Ingredients

  • 1 can - brown lentils
  • 1 - garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 tsp - chopped green chillies
  • 1 - chopped onion, in medium size
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • A pinch of hing
  • 2 tsp - lemon juice
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 tsp - pomegranate powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp - cooking oil

How to Make Afghani Dal

  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and hing.
  • Once it crackles, add chopped onions, green chillies, minced garlic and saute it for a while.
  • Drain and rinse brown lentils and add it into the pan.
  • Add 2-3 tbsp of hot water in it to form a thick gravy.
  • Add all the spices and mix well and cook for 5 mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and drizzle with lemon juice before serving.
