Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Almond
  • 1 liter - Milk
  • ½ cup - basmati Rice
  • 8 to 10 - Saffron strands
  • ½ cup - Sugar
  • 15 to 20 - almonds, peeled and cut long and fine
  • 1 tsp - pistachio, slivered fine
  • How to Make Almond Payasam:

    1. Soak the almonds in water, then remove the skin and make a paste.
    2. Boil the milk. Wash the rice and soak in ½ cup water.
    3. Mix the almond paste and rice in the boiling water and let it simmer on low heat. Keep stirring till it becomes thick.
    4. Mix the sugar and kesar in the milk and stir for a while.
    5. Decorate with almond and pistachio on top of the payasam and serve.
