  • 1 cup - Almond
  • 1 liter - Milk
  • ½ cup - basmati Rice
  • 8 to 10 - Saffron strands
  • ½ cup - Sugar
  • 15 to 20 - almonds, peeled and cut long and fine
  • 1 tsp - pistachio, slivered fine

How to Make Almond Payasam

  • Soak the almonds in water, then remove the skin and make a paste.
  • Boil the milk. Wash the rice and soak in ½ cup water.
  • Mix the almond paste and rice in the boiling water and let it simmer on low heat. Keep stirring till it becomes thick.
  • Mix the sugar and kesar in the milk and stir for a while.
  • Decorate with almond and pistachio on top of the payasam and serve.
