  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup - ground almonds
  • 1/2 cup - milk powder
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - saffron strands
  • 100g - butter
  • 1 tbsp - flaked almonds

How to Make Almond Slices

  • Beat the eggs together in a bowl and set aside.
  • Place the ground almonds, milk powder, sugar and saffron in a large bowl and stir to mix well.
  • Melt butter in a small saucepan and pour over the dry ingredients.
  • Mix well with a fork.
  • Add the beaten eggs to the almond mixture and stir to blend well.
  • Spread the mixture in a shallow oven-proof dish and bake in a pre-heated oven at 160 degrees C for 45 minutes.
  • Test whether the cake is cooked by piercing with the tip of the knife or a skewer- it will come out clean if it is cooked thoroughly.
  • Once it has cooled, cut the almond cake into slices.
  • Decorate the almond slices with flaked almonds and transfer them into serving plates.
  • Serve hot or cold.
