Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg - Potato
  • 100 g - Potato flakes
  • 1/4 kg - Oil
  • 1/4 kg - Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 stick - Coriander leaves
  • 1 stalk - mint leaves
  • 1 stalk - curry leaves
  • 4 green chillies or 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 lime or 2 tsp juice
  • 25 g black gram
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - ginger powder
  • 1/4 - garlic powder
  • 2 tsp - salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

How to Make Aloo Bonda

  • Wash potato properly and cook. Then peel and mash it.
  • Wash and chop all leaves. Add 4, 5 spoons of oil and heat.
  • Add black gram, cumin, mustard seeds and fry for 2 minutes (till it turns golden in colour).
  • Add chopped leaves and fry it. Then add mashed potatoes.
  • Add all other ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, garlic, chilli and table salt and mix properly.
  • Finally, add lime juice and mix it properly. Make round small balls.
  • Take gram flour in another bowl and add table salt and baking powder to it.
  • Mix properly, adding 100 ml of water, into a thick batter.
  • Take a deep pan and add 1/4 kg oil and heat.
  • Take mashed potato balls and dip in the gram flour paste.
  • Then slip them carefully into the oil, frying till they become golden in colour. Drain and serve.
