How to Make Aloo Choliya (Potato Green Chickpea Curry )

  • Wash, peel and roughly chop onions, garlic, ginger tomatoes and chillies.
  • Heat oil in a pan or pressure cooker add garlic, ginger and onions.
  • Saute till golden in colour.
  • Keep the remaining oil in the cooker.
  • Aloo Choliya:
  • Take chopped tomatoes and chillies in food processor, drain out the fried onions mixture, add over the tomatoes in the food processor. Grind to form a smooth and fine paste. Keep aside.
  • To the remaining oil, add asafoetida and cumin seeds. Saute and add potatoes, stir for 5-7 minutes.
  • Add all spices and salt, mix well.
  • Add the paste made above, saute till oil comes out from edges.
  • Add horse gram, give a nice stir and add 1 litre of water. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles.
  • Open the lid, cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add chopped coriander.
  • Serve hot with chapattis.
