  • 1.5 kg - Mutton pieces
  • 1.5 kg - Potatoes (diced)
  • 1.5 kg - tomatoes(finely chopped)
  • 3 Onions (finely sliced)
  • 1.5 tbsp - crushed ginger-garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1.5 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1.5 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1.5 cup - oil
  • 8 cups - water
  • salt to taste
  • To Garnish:
  • 3 to 4 slit Green chillies
  • coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • How to Make Aloo Ghosht:

    1. Clean and wash the mutton.
    2. In a kadai, add the mutton pieces and four glasses of water.
    3. Cook the mutton on a low flame.
    4. Add finely sliced onions, crushed ginger-garlic, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
    5. Mix well and cook on a low flame till the water from the mutton almost dries.
    6. Add oil and saute on a medium flame till oil separates.
    7. Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
    8. Add the potatoes, four cups of water and cook till the potatoes are done.
    9. Approximately three cups of water should remain to make good gravy.
    10. Garnish with slit green chillies and coriander leaves.
    11. Serve hot with rotis or rice.
