Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg - Mutton pieces
  • 1.5 kg - Potatoes (diced)
  • 1.5 kg - tomatoes(finely chopped)
  • 3 Onions (finely sliced)
  • 1.5 tbsp - crushed ginger-garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1.5 tbsp - coriander powder
  • 1.5 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1.5 cup - oil
  • 8 cups - water
  • salt to taste
  • To Garnish:
  • 3 to 4 slit Green chillies
  • coriander leaves, finely chopped

How to Make Aloo Ghosht

  • Clean and wash the mutton.
  • In a kadai, add the mutton pieces and four glasses of water.
  • Cook the mutton on a low flame.
  • Add finely sliced onions, crushed ginger-garlic, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  • Mix well and cook on a low flame till the water from the mutton almost dries.
  • Add oil and saute on a medium flame till oil separates.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
  • Add the potatoes, four cups of water and cook till the potatoes are done.
  • Approximately three cups of water should remain to make good gravy.
  • Garnish with slit green chillies and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rotis or rice.
