  • 5 - medium size Potatoes
  • 3 tbsp - oil, groundnut or any vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 3 pods - garlic, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 4 or 5 - Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • A pinch of Asafoetida
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • How to Make Aloo Jeera Fry:

    1. Boil the potatoes in a cooker up to four whistles.
    2. When the cooker lets out all the steam, take the potatoes and peel the skin.
    3. Cube them into big dices.
    4. Add salt onto the chopped potatoes.
    5. In a wok heat oil.
    6. When the oil is hot, add the curry leaves and cumin seeds, allow it to splutter.
    7. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and hing in the oil.
    8. Add the potatoes in the kadai, and mix thoroughly.
    9. Lower the flame and cover the wok with a lid for 5 minutes.
    10. Once potatoes are cooked, serve with accompaniments of your choice.
