Ingredients

  • Rice, washed and drained - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Pepper corns- 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1"
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Potato, diced small - 1
  • Rock Salt - 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric- a pinch
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Coriander leaves - For garnishing
  • How to Make Aloo Kichidi for Special Occasions:

    1. Heat ghee, add jeera, peppercorns and whole spices.
    2. When moderately fried, add potatoes and rice and stir-fry. Add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder. Add water and cook in a low flame for 15-20 mins till the potatoes and rice are completely cooked.
    3. Serve hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
