Ingredients

  • 2 - boiled Potatoes
  • 2 - Onions
  • 1 tsp - sambar powder
  • Garam Masala powder, a pinch
  • 1/4 tsp - Ginger Garlic paste (optional)
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 2 cups - Wheat flour
  • Salt as needed
  • Water to knead the dough
  • Coriander leaves, a few
  • 1/4 tsp - Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - Lemon juice
  • How to Make Aloo paratha:

    1. Cut the onions into very fine pieces.
    2. Mash the boiled potatoes using a fork, and add the cumin seeds to it and mix well.
    3. Heat oil in a kadai and saute the onions for 2 minutes
    4. Add the mashed potato mixture to this and mix well.
    5. Add the sambhar powder, salt and garam masala to this and mix well.
    6. Add the chopped coriander leaves.
    7. Mix well and keep it in low flame for 2-5 mins.
    8. Allow it to cool and add the lemon juice.
    9. Knead the whole wheat flour with water to a make the dough for outer layer.
    10. Take a small ball sized dough and roll it into a thick roti.
    11. Place a tbsp of masala on the top of this. Close it and roll it gently again, by dusting it with flour.
    12. Heat a tawa and put the rolled parathas on the tawa. When it is done on one side, flip it over and cook.
    13. When it is done, you will get nice golden colour on the outer layer. Add a drop of oil to it.
    14. If you want you can add ghee/butter also.
    15. Serve hot with pickle or curd.
