  • ½ kg - Potatoes
  • 200 g - poshto (khus khus)
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • 5 to 6 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • Sufficient oil for frying the Potatoes
  • 4 tbsp - oil
  • 2 medium size Onions (finely chopped)
  • ¼ tsp - Turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • How to Make Aloo Poshto:

    1. Peel and cut potatoes into quarters.
    2. Soak the poshto in slightly warm water for 20 minutes.
    3. Grind it along with green chillies, ginger, garlic and salt to a fine paste.
    4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and semi-fry the potatoes on a medium flame.
    5. Keep aside. Heat 4 tbsp oil in a pan.
    6. Add onions and saute on a low flame till transparent.
    7. Add the poshto paste, turmeric powder and saute the mixture on a low flame for a few minutes.
    8. Add the fried potatoes and mix well.
    9. Keep covered on a low flame for 15-20 minutes, mixing at regular intervals, so that the potatoes are well covered with poshto mixture.
    10. Serve hot with rotis.
