Ingredients

  • 4 - potatoes, boiled, skinned, mashed
  • 4 to 5 - Green chillies crushed finely
  • 2.5 inch size - ginger, peeled, grated finely
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 3 to 4 pinch - Asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp - coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - Mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup - grated cheese or Paneer
  • 2 tbsp - Corn flour
  • 1/2 cup - plain flour
  • 1 cup - fine breadcrumbs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, to deep or shallow fry

How to Make Aloo Tikkia

  • Make a thin batter of plain flour, keep aside till required.
  • Mix all ingredients for tikkias, except oil and bread crumbs.
  • Mix to form smooth dough and divide into 12 portions.
  • Shape each portion into slightly flattened round tikkia, then dip into plain flour batter.
  • Immediately, roll in bread crumbs, fry till golden on both sides.
  • Either deep fry or shallow fry as per individual choice.
  • Serve hot and crisp with green chutney or sweet tamarind chutney.
