Ingredients

  • Potatoes (Medium sized) - 5
  • Tomatoes (Medium sized) - 4
  • Onions - 4
  • Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil -2 tbsp
  • Milk (boiled) - 1 tbsp
  • For garnishing: Chopped coriander

How to Make Aloo Tomato Saag

  • Chop potatoes into small cubes after removing the skin.
  • Chop onions and tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Grind the grated coconut into a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a tava and add the ginger garlic paste to it.
  • When the paste turns brown add the chopped onions.
  • After the onions are fried, add the chopped potatoes with a pinch of turmeric and fry for some time.
  • When the potatoes become semi-soft add the chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, salt and add a glass of water and cook covered for a few minutes.
  • Add the coconut paste and milk.
  • When potatoes are cooked add the coriander powder.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.
  • Serve with hot puris, chapattis, plain rice or pulav.
