Ingredients

  • 4 - potatoes, medium sized
  • 1 - onion, medium size (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup - peas
  • 3 - Green chillies (finely chopped)
  • A little Coriander leaves
  • A few Mint leaves
  • 2 tsp - Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp - Corn flour
  • salt
  • 150g - gram flour
  • 1 pinch - soda
  • 1 cup - water
  • oil to deep fry
  • How to Make Aloo Vada:

    1. Boil, peel and finely mash the potatoes.
    2. Put all ingredients except gram flour, soda and water into the mashed potatoes and mix well.
    3. Make 10-12 balls of even size.
    4. Make batter with gram flour, soda, salt and water.
    5. Heat the oil for deep frying.
    6. Dip every ball into the gram flour batter and fry in hot oil on a medium flame till it becomes crisp and attains a light brown tinge.
    7. Drain it on a kitchen paper.
    8. Serve hot with green and tamarind chutneys or tomato sauce.
