Ingredients

  • 1 cup - Wheat (kuthiya gothambu)
  • 2 - Chicken pieces
  • 3 - Cinnamon
  • 4 - Cloves
  • 1 tsp - Butter
  • For garnishing:
  • 1 - Onion (sliced)
  • Cashewnuts
  • Raisins
  • Ghee
  • How to Make Alsa (Hareesa):

    1. Soak wheat in water for 7-8 hours.
    2. Heat a pressure cooker, add wheat, chicken, cloves, cinnamon, salt, water and cook on a low fire till done.
    3. The wheat must be cooked very well.
    4. If the hareesa becomes too thick, add a little fresh milk or coconut milk to loosen it.
    5. Add butter and mix very well.
    6. Serve hot.
    7. Heat ghee in a pan, fry onion, cashews, raisins and saute till golden brown and garnish before you serve.
