  • 2 cups - basmati Rice
  • 4 cups - water or Milk or Coconut Milk
  • 1 cup - Palak leaves
  • 1 cup peas - peas
  • 1 cup - potatoes, diced
  • 2 - Onions
  • 1 - Tomato (optional)
  • 1 tsp - Saunf
  • 2 inch - Cinnamon stick
  • 3 - Cloves
  • 1 tbsp - Ginger Garlic paste
  • 4 - Green chillies
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • How to Make Alu Palak Pulao:

    1. Blanch palak. Blend it in a mixer.
    2. Heat oil and splutter the whole spices.
    3. Saute onions till they are golden brown in colour.
    4. Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies.
    5. When you get a good aroma, add diced potatoes and fry it for a while.
    6. Then add the peas followed by the blended palak.
    7. You can also add tomato for a tangy taste.
    8. Allow the mixture to boil for a while till the raw smell goes away.
    9. Season it with coriander powder and salt.
    10. Then add basmati rice and fry it for a while.
    11. Add water or milk or coconut milk as per the ratio to the cups of rice added.
    12. Sprinkle salt. Add a tbsp of ghee as a final touch.
    13. You can also add cubed and fried paneer pieces at the end or even shredded paneer.
