  • 6 oz - Sugar
  • 6 oz - Butter or margarine
  • 3 - eggs
  • 5 oz - white flour
  • 1 oz - cocoa
  • 2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup - water.
  • How to Make American Chocolate Vanilla Cake:

    1. Mix flour, cocoa and baking powder and keep aside.
    2. Mix butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixture until light and fluffy.
    3. Add 1 egg and a little flour mixture and mix.
    4. Continue adding the rest of the eggs and flour mixture.
    5. Add the vanilla essence and the water and continue beating on low speed till everything is mixed well.
    6. If you find the cake batter is still very thick add more water. (Never add milk as it makes the cake very heavy)
    7. Grease an 8 inch baking tray and pour the batter in it.
    8. Bake at 350 degrees till cake is cooked. (Insert a toothpick and if it comes out clean then the cake is cooked)
    9. Let it cool and ice it with any of your favourite icing or whipped fresh cream.
