  • 6 oz - sugar
  • 6 oz - butter or margarine
  • 3 - eggs
  • 5 oz - white flour
  • 1 oz - cocoa
  • 2 tsp - baking powder
  • 1 tsp - vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup - water.

How to Make American Chocolate Vanilla Cake

  • Mix flour, cocoa and baking powder and keep aside.
  • Mix butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixture until light and fluffy.
  • Add 1 egg and a little flour mixture and mix.
  • Continue adding the rest of the eggs and flour mixture.
  • Add the vanilla essence and the water and continue beating on low speed till everything is mixed well.
  • If you find the cake batter is still very thick add more water. (Never add milk as it makes the cake very heavy)
  • Grease an 8 inch baking tray and pour the batter in it.
  • Bake at 350 degrees till cake is cooked. (Insert a toothpick and if it comes out clean then the cake is cooked)
  • Let it cool and ice it with any of your favourite icing or whipped fresh cream.
