How to Make Andhra Mamidi Pappu (Mango Dal)

  • Cook dal with 3 cups of water till soft.
  • Chop mango into small pieces.
  • Heat oil, season with mustard, fenugreek, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • Add onion and chopped green chillies and fry till the onion is light brown.
  • Add turmeric, mango pieces and 1-1.5 cups water.
  • Cook till mango is soft.
  • Add dal, salt, sugar and more water, if needed.
  • Simmer for a few minutes.
  • Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
